Hello readers, bibliophiles and word lovers alike! Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by BermudaOnion where you can share new words that you’ve encountered or spotlight words you love. Feel free to play along and if you make your own list be sure to drop it in my comments so I can see the words you love too!
I thought for my first Wondrous Words Wednesday I’d focus on a few words that describe some of my favorite things! I think that language in general is one of our greatest gifts and the ability to express thought and emotion through them consistently leaves me in awe. As a book lover, it’s difficult to not get swept up in the beauty of language.
Psithurism: the sound of rustling leaves or wind through the trees.

Petrichor: a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather.

Ikigai (Japanese): a reason for being, the thing that gets you up in the morning.

Vellichor: the strange wistfulness of used bookstores.

What are some of your favorite words? Are there any words that illicit certain emotions or feelings for you? Drop me a note and let me know!
Oh, I love petrichor but I had no idea there’s a name for it! I can’t wait to try that one out.

It’s been raining here in Texas for the last week or so, so it’s been at the front of my mind! It’s such a lovely smell 🙂
