Can’t Wait Wednesday: One Day in December by Josie Silver!

Can't Wait Wednesday

Alright my party people! Getting to two posts back-to-back, I’ll go ahead and put that in the win column! I’m hoping to get you two reviews this week along with at least one recipe. However, my promises have been fairly empty these past few weeks so bear with me here! I’m hoping to get back to daily posts by next week, but you never know!

This week in exciting news – it’s back to raining in Dallas. While many begrudge this continued rain, I’ve actually been really enjoying being cozy inside and it always puts me in the mood to read. My *amazing* husband also bought us tickets to go see the guys of Last Podcast on the Left next week and as an admitted True-Crime junkie, I’m thrilled!! However, that’s not what today is about – it’s hump-day my dudes and it’s time for another installment of Can’t Wait Wednesday.

Feel ya brah.

Can’t wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about and that we have yet to read. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. This week I’m joining up with the ladies over at Two Sisters Lost in a Coulee along with Kim from It’s All About the Thrill to feature a book we’re all excited to read as a group!

So this week we’re featuring One Day in December by Josie Silver and there are TWO reasons I’m incredibly. Freakin. AMPED for this book. I shall give them to you now:

  1. I’ve been on the damn hunt for a romance book to feature on my blog but I’ve not been particularly in the *mood* for it. I try to feature as many different types of stories, genres and types of books on my blog as possible. I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again but books literally let you travel anywhere. That’s one of the reasons I’ve always been drawn to fantasy and what I think people are missing out on when they nix entire genres. I’ve featured nearly every genre of story (I do however, need to up my game on non-fiction) but I’ve not brought ya’ll any romance yet. WAIT NO MORE because I’ve got it in store for you with this one!
  2. I’m not sure what all you readers view as the crème de la crème of ARCs and reviewing but to me, it’s always been receiving physical copies of books. I love ARCs in general, and I am not going to nit-pick reading on a tablet. I love all stories and I’ll absorb them in any fashion. HOWEVER, there is something so special and satisfying about physical books and I received a physical copy of this one thanks to Brenda and Norma of the Traveling Sisters. This is actually the second book I’ve had physically shipped to me this month so I feel like I’ve won an Olympic gold metal.

Pretty much what I looked like when my books came in the mail.

ANYWAY, moving on from swooning over receiving physical copies of books.

LOOK AT IT. It actually says ADVANCED READERS EDITION. I HAVE FREAKIN’ ARRIVED.

From Goodreads:

A love story about what happens after you meet, or rather, don’t meet the one.

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic…and then her bus drives away.

Certain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man from the bus. It would be.

What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.

Today’s installment of things that represent Christina’s enthusiasm: I am more excited for this book than this corgi is for his food. Also *dogs are the best*

What are some romance books you have loved? What exciting reads do you have coming up soon? Drop me a note in the comments and let me know!

  2. I love your gif choices here! And I’m not usually into romance, but they can be riveting! This one sounds like it could be one of the more riveting ones…
