Happy Sunday readers! I don’t know about ya’ll but while Saturday is great because it’s the meat of the weekend, Sunday’s have always been my favorite day. There’s something so cozy about a Sunday spent at home and I’m very grateful to be doing just that today. I’ve been meal prepping for Whole30 week 2, reading on the front lawn and we went and walked around the lake this morning. I’m not sure there IS a better way to spend a Sunday. I’m also super excited to get back into the swing of blogging and posting with two of my favorite Traveling Sisters! Brenda and Norma from Two Sisters Lost in a Coulee, along with Kim from It’s All About the Thrill and I are linking up for another installment of Sneak Peak Sunday.
Sneak Peak Sunday is a weekly meme started by the sisters themselves! This is a meme to share a book you’re excited to be starting and your thoughts from the first few page.
The Suspect by Fiona Barton
So I’ve been WAY behind on my buddy reads with the Traveling Sisters what with life and the end of the year is always super busy for some reason. I’m working on getting some of my left over library books read and getting back into the swing of blogging. Many of the Sisters have finished this one and are really enjoying it. However, I’m just starting so if you haven’t read it yet, feel free to check out the group or the Traveling Sisters Instagram (@travelingfriendsread)! Also, if this one interests you – it’s an instant download on edelweiss right now!
When two eighteen-year-old girls go missing on their gap year in Thailand, their families are thrust into the international spotlight: desperate, bereft and frantic with worry.
Journalist Kate Waters always does everything she can to be first to the story, first with the exclusive, first to discover the truth – and this time is no exception. But she can’t help but think of her own son, who she hasn’t seen in two years since he left home to go traveling. This time it’s personal.
And as the case of the missing girls unfolds, they will all find that even this far away, danger can lie closer to home than you might think . . .
I mean, if this synopsis isn’t enough to get you jived on this new thriller, I don’t think I can help you. Having only read the first couple of short chapters I can’t say too much about how this is all going to play out. However, what I CAN say is that it has be absolutely rapt. This scenario I think is one that nearly anyone who has traveled can connect with. I don’t know about you, but when my husband and I went to Belize there was definitely a feeling of being *extra careful* about where we traveled, how we traveled and when we went to certain areas. This is my first Fiona Barton book and I’ve seen a lot of people really love her works so I’m super excited to get into the meat of this one. I went on a bit of a thriller binge this past year so I’ve had a hard time getting back into them but I’m almost done with Killman Creek by Rachel Caine and I’m loving it – so I’m super excited to dip my toes back into the genre and think this one is going to knock it out of the park!
