Behind The Blogger Book Tag!

It’s Thursday! That means that a) tomorrow is Friday, so the weekend is about to start and b) my best friend is flying in from Spain this evening! This really is the week that keeps on giving y’all and my ride on cloud nine continues! I couldn’t decide what kind of post I wanted to do today, whether a meme or a “Thoughtful Thursday” post or just skip it all together. But then I remembered Ashley, of Ashes Books & Bobs tagged me in a great post a few weeks ago and I totally forgot to do it! So first and foremost, thanks so much to Ashley for the tag and if y’all haven’t checked out her blog you totally should – there’s some really amazing stuff over there!

Why did you start blogging and why have you kept blogging?

I started blogging after I started reviewing on Goodreads and contributing to the Traveling Sisters blog after joining their group. I had been receiving some positive feedback on my reviews and I’d had this idea for a recipe and review blog for a long time but finally decided to pull the trigger last year. I keep blogging because it’s a great outlet and I really enjoy the community. I love sharing my opinions on books and recipes and I love reading what others have to say as well!

What is your favorite type of post to write?

My recipe and a read posts by far! They’re more time consuming than a regular post but they’re also more fun. I get to try out new recipes or share some tried and true recipes in our household. Also my friends love it because they get to come over and try all this random stuff I’m making.

What are your top three blog posts?

So, I actually just went and looked up what my top 3 most viewed posts are and honestly they’re not my favorite posts I’ve done personally. I’m kind of surprised so I’m going to do my top three favorite blog posts instead!

i. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo review + Caldo Galego Recipe
ii. The Silent Patient review + Chicken Curry Recipe
iii. Jane Doe review + Bolognese Recipe

What are your proudest blogging moments?

Merp, I don’t know that I have too many of those. I’ve had a few authors like / reblog and share a couple of my posts which was really fun to see. I’m almost at 400 followers which is also really fun! My favorite comments are the ones where someone says they’re going to try a recipe I’ve posted so I always feel pretty proud when that happens too.

What are your hobbies outside of blogging?

I’m honestly not a big “hobbiest” my husband makes a hobby out of hobbies and I’m always a little jealous of that. But outside of blogging I read a lot (obviously) and I cook every night of the week, unless we’ve got something special going on. My husband and I love to camp, hike and be outside pretty much anytime we can. I love to ski, but I don’t know if it counts as a hobby since I can’t do it too often (YET). I also do yoga every day since making it a 30 day challenge/resolution this year.

Describe your personality in three words.

Ughhhh, these questions are so hard. So um: quirky, empathetic and open-minded.

What are your top three pet peeves?

i. Crowds of nearly any kind.
ii. Closed minded people who are unwilling to adjust their world view or perspective.
iii. People who hate on things without ever trying them. This is especially irksome when it’s adults saying they wont try vegetables. I can’t explain why but it gets me so irritated! Veggies are DELICIOUS people.

What’s something that your followers don’t know about you?

Merp, merp, merp, I find these questions to be SO HARD. I have broken 15 bones in my life, all of which were on my left side. Granted, the majority of those were before I was 13 or 14 years old and were just me being a giant clumsy ass mess but I also have 2 plates and 23 screws in my left leg from a girl falling on me in college. I can feel the rain and cold fronts and not in a cool super power way, in a “my left leg locks up and hurts really bad” kind of way. ALSO, just so you know – none of these bones were broken skiing. I broke them all doing stupid not cool things.

So you can fully understand how not cool: I shattered my elbow in elementary school because I had my hands full with string cheese and crackers and instead of dropping the snacks I braced myself by sticking my elbows out and landing on my left one, thus shattering the whole thing. Ah, the things we do for cheese.

    1. LOL, I honestly don’t really remember the pain. Breaking a bone is a very specific type of pain and every time it’s happened I knew immediately it was broken vs sprained or something but my mind just kind of forgets the pain after a while so it’s not too bad 😛

  1. Thanks for the tag!
You pet peeves are quite similar to mine! I get agitated when my bf refuses to eat something cuz it’s “yuck” but he never tried it. He’s getting better tho 😀

    1. Hahah! I call my husband a human garbage disposal because he will literally eat ANYTHING. I’ve not really screwed up many recipes but I recently maid this picture perfect dinner that ended up tasting like really, actually bad. It was so bad I made myself an egg for dinner instead, and as my husband is eating it he’s like “yeah this isn’t very good” and then saved the rest for left overs…. mind boggling!! 😛

  2. Awesome, I love that we have similar pet peeves, but I’m still in shock about all the broken bones … and from someone falling on you. Holy Motley Crew! I can’t help but think she was a really big-boned gal. Did she play Rugby on the side? 😉

And thanks for the tag, that gives me something to post for tomorrow.

    1. LOL, that’s actually the very first question my mom asked me when I called her from the hospital. The second was to accuse me of wearing heels. I was wearing converse tennis shoes and she was not big boned at all actually, pretty petite! She fell on me and instead of letting myself fall to the ground I tried to correct and stay up right and her weight hit my legs just right and snapped both the tib and fib – but luckily NOT a compound fracture! An off-duty EMT guy actually carried me to my car and said it was sprained so I waited like 8 hours before going to the hospital because I was convinced it wasn’t broken!! 😛

  3. Thank you so much for doing this tag. I loved reading your answers, “The things we do for cheese.” haha!! I completely agree with your pet peeves. Now if you could pass your love of cooking to me, I would be eternally grateful. 😉
