Thoughtful Thursday: Next on Deck!

Happy Thursday everyone! I’ve been pretty MIA with a business trip, my best friends Master’s Graduation and then a trip to NM to look at neighborhoods for our upcoming move. It’s been a whirlwind to say the least and reading/blogging had to take a back seat. However! I’m getting back on the wagon and I’ve got a review for Run Away coming at y’all soon. I thought I’d take today to show y’all what I’m reading and what I will be reading and review in the next couple of weeks.

Currently reading: The Book of Essie by Meghan MacLean Weir & With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo

My life has been in such flux recently that I’m really taking my time with these two beauties but I’m absolutely loving them both right now! The Book of Essie has been on my TBR 5ever and I just never got around to reading it. I borrowed it from the library around the time of the surgery but ended up not getting to it before I had to return it. So, I purchased both of these because they’re stunning and will look beautiful on my bookshelf so now I can take all the time to read them that I need!

Some Choose Darkness by Charlie Donlea

I read Donlea’s Don’t Believe It last year and absolutely adored it! So when I saw the ever wonderful Traveling Sisters list his upcoming book as a group read I couldn’t get my hands on the ARC fast enough. This baby is slated to start with the group today and I’m prepping to sink my teeth into this weekend after I finish up Essie. If Donlea’s delivers the same skill for suspense building as the previous works I’ve read then this one is sure to be an absolute knock out!

From the library: Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins

Both of these highly rated reads have been on my TBR for-freakin’-ever and I finally got around to borrowing them from the library. Both have thousands of reviews and average ratings of over 4 points on Goodreads and I’ve heard from friends that they’re both amazing. I’ve been trying to shake up my reading a bit recently because *life* has a way of getting in the way of my hobbies and I’m trying to really sink my teeth into great books this year. I’m thrilled to have my hands on these two and can’t wait to get to them.

Well, there you have it folks! My short list of upcoming reads and therefore, the short list of upcoming reviews! Have you read any of these titles? If so, what did you think? What are the books on your super short list to read next? Drop me a note in the comments and let me know!

  1. Dang, other than Rebecca, I haven’t heard of any of these, so will have to check them out.

Meanwhile, in between the move (which I hope goes well) I hope you get some reading done. Looking forward to the reviews and, a new recipe! 😉

  2. Oooh, cool books!
Very eclectic selection, so hopefully it will help spicing up your reading experience 😀
For some reason i refuse to read Rebecca. Especially after i read the book based on it… but i got the audio version, cuz i’m still kinda curious 😀

I look forward to seeing your Book of Essie assessment. I have it on my list as well 🙂
