Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 Books On My Current TBR!

Happy hump-day fellow readers! As I mentioned yesterday I’m working on getting back into the swing of blogging and I’ve got another review coming at y’all on Friday. I didn’t want to stack too many of them back to back and I love these little bookish memes so I thought this would be a fun way to break up the week! I know it’s technically Wednesday, but Top 5 Wednesday is on a hiatus so I thought #yolo I’d just to the T5T post today!

If you’re not a Whose Line fan, I can’t help you.

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Bionic Book Worm where various topics are explored every week. If you haven’t checked out her blog I can’t suggest it enough! It’s a great way to explore lots of fun book options.

Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

I mean, just LOOK at that cover! How could you walk past this baby and not be immediately drawn in. Part fantasy, part young-adult adventure, part fairy tale and part Mexican folk tale this looks to be a mixture of just a few of my favorite things! Not only that but it’s made a huge splash in the GR community and is up for a GR Choice Award. I’ve had my eye on this baby since before it’s release but it just came through my library so it’s next on my list and I can’t wait to find out more about Casiopea and her adventures with the Mayan God of Death!

An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

I love all books, but I’ve learned in the last year or two that I’m a bit of a *mood* reader and when winter rolls around I love a good fantasy and I love a good thriller! Also, like I mentioned before I’m a straight up SUCKER for the GR Choice Awards nominees so *surprise, surprise* this one is on that list too. I’ve read a few mystery/thriller books that really kept my socks completely unknocked off and left me quite disappointed. However, Anonymous Girl with it’s psychological suspense vibes and glowing reviews from some of my favorite bloggers has been at the top of my list for a while! With a few long distance road trips in my near future I’m ready to get this one read ASAP!

Verity by Colleen Hoover

I committed a major book sin with this one, so please forgive me book gods! I borrowed this baby from the library and – womp, womp – didn’t get around to reading it before I had to return it. It wasn’t the synopsis that truly drew me in, but it’s a doozie for sure; it was the epic reviews I kept reading over and over and over. It seems that, overwhelmingly, the people love this book and I’m a lover of a truly good, truly surprising twist ending and that’s a comment I’ve seen about this book numerous times. Again, given the mood of the season this one is on my short list and based on it’s 4.37 score and 65K reviews on GR, I have a feeling it’s gonna be a winner.

What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon

Y’all. I mean, if you don’t love a sweeping romance that involves time travel I don’t know how to help you. For as much as I find myself a sucker for romance, I honestly don’t read very many novels you’d define as “romance”. However, What the Wind Knows has been on my radar for a hot minute. Not the least of which is because it involves both of these things! I’ve been dipping my toes into more historical fiction (forever trying to broaden my reading scope) and this feels like the perfect addition to that list. Ireland in 1921, a handsome doctor and a woman displaced from her own time? I mean, sign me up, amiright?!

Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark

Well, as it turns out I’m a freakin’ sheep. Every single one of these books is a GR Choice Awards nominee. Ah, well, the people have good taste so I’m gonna go with it. I can’t imagine there are many people who don’t know (and don’t love) the ladies of the My Favorite Murder podcast. Billed as a comedy/true-crime show Karen and Georgia set the bar for accessibility, vulnerability and heart. The moment I saw they were releasing a memoir I knew I was going to have to read it. This strange book slump I’ve been in has made reading difficult but this baby is already on it’s way to my door!

Have you read any of these titles? If so, what did you think? What books are at the top of your TBR this month? Drop me a note in the comments and let me know!

  1. Hey Sweetie, you’ve been missed. I hope that you’re now back blogging means you moved and everything (I hope) went okay. I forgot about Gods of Jade, I have that on my list and yes, like you can’t resist a good cover. Oh, and Amy Harmon is on my radar because of Sophie (Beware the Reader) who loves this author. So might give this one a try.

    1. Everything went as well as can be expected I think! It’s our first out of state move and it was definitely more hectic than I thought it would be but I’m feeling really settled now so I’m really happy to get back into the reading/blogging game because I’ve missed it! YASS, if you read those books I can’t wait to see what you think! 🙂
