About my blog:
Welcome to Recipe and a Read! A take on the old TBS classic ‘Dinner and a Movie’ I post recipes mentioned in books with various reviews. In between my recipe + read posts, I post regular reviews as well as other book and cooking related content.
I post all of my reviews on Goodreads where I’m limited to ratings on a 1-5 scale. While I understand the necessity for the GR community, it’s one of the most irksome limitations. Instead of telling you how great I personally perceive a book using a number scale I’ll outline what worked for me and what didn’t. This way, you can decide for yourself because reading is a deeply personal experience.
Hi! My name is Christina, and I’m an Austin, Texas native who recently had her dream of moving to the mountains come true and I now reside in beautiful Northern New Mexico! I live with my fantastic husband who is just finished his PhD in Mechanical Engineering and my very needy Jack Russel Terrier, Fitzgerald (who is also a hot mess 99% of the time). I love the outdoors and spend as much time outside as possible. Whether it’s camping, hiking, skiing, or just reading in my hammock if the suns out (and even when it’s not) you’ll likely find me outside.
I cook. I read. I do yoga. I’m super big on self-care and these are highest among my necessities for my own self-care routine. When I’m not doing these things I love to travel but if I could live in a perpetual winter skiing, I would. I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus and I’m about to shake some things up so bear with me!
While I do enjoy writing my primary goal with my blog is not to become a writer. I really enjoy the blogging community, sharing my opinion and learning about new books. I’ve loved to cook since my early teens and I want to make it as accessible and fun as possible. It can be a daunting task to pick up new things you’re not familiar with and even if you cook all the time it’s always fun to learn more. I’m just here to tell you how great books and home cooked food are for the soul.
And because I never pass up an opportunity, here’s my family:
