Top 3 Thursday: Book Club Recommendations!

Well y'all, I really think I'm finally and truly coming out of the book slump I got myself into and it's a very happy place to be. I'm almost finished with The Mother-In-Law by Sally Hepworth so keep an eye out for a Recipe and a Read post on publication day on the 23rd! This is a great one because I'm a little over halfway through and I've already got 4 recipes to choose from! Anyway, today I wanted to participate in Top 3 Thursday! This weekly meme is hosted by A Cozy Reader and this weeks topic is book club recommendations! Being a loud and proud member of both the Traveling Sisters and Traveling Friends groups on Goodreads, and really enjoying reading with my husband I've always been a big fan of book clubs and book discussions. It's such a fun way to relive a book you love, seeing it through someone else's eyes!

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I’m Sure Will Be 5 Stars!

First thing is first y'all! Game of Thrones is back for it's final season and I can barely handle myself. Honestly, the stress of worrying if this is going to turn into another Lost situation is real and I kind of wish I just had all the knowledge of how this was going to go instead of having to watch it week to week! Here's to hoping the freakin' pack survives. Anyway, I've recently finished The Night Olivia Fell by Christina McDonald and it's a doozie of an emotional read and it took me forever to get through because I was so invested. I'll have that review up for y'all this week! Today I wanted to participate in another round of Top 5 Tuesday! This is a weekly meme hosted by Bionic Book Worm and it's one of my favorites. This weeks topic is books you predict will be 5-star reads!

This one is a little dangerous for me if we're being honest because I have a bad habit of hyping books up in my head and then being a little let down when they don't live up to my lofty expectations. I'm very good at not romanticizing situations or placing too much importance on a given event. However, that doesn't stay true for reading. I'll see a book and the synopsis will grab me and then I'll read a few glowing reviews and hype it up so much in my head there's no where to go but down. But then there are the rare few books that end up exceeding my expectations, and isn't that the dream!

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I’m Amped To Read!

Howdy y'all! It's been a whirlwind few days for me and with my husbands PhD proposal taking place today my life has been a mess to say the least! Not only that but again I'm having issues finding the motivation to read. On the bright side though, my husband and I have just gotten into The West Wing and it's amazing! I don't know what it is but I absolutely love DC and pretty much everything set there so it's been fun. HOWEVER, this is not a TV blog it's a book blog. So today there isn't actually a Top 5 Tuesday topic so I thought I'd wing it and talk about some books I'm really excited to read.

So, thinking back to last year when I got myself into a giant book slump I thought it's high time I toss out these books that I've been trying to read for ages and shake things up with different types of books. This worked out really well for me last year so here's to hoping this fixes my issue of not vibing with reading recently!

Top 10 Tuesday: Things That Make Me Pick Up A Book!

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Artsy Reader where different topics are explored each week. This weeks topic is "things that make you pick up a book" and I'm loving going through all the other lists. I find this one particularly interesting because reading is a super personal thing and I'm always fascinated by what makes other people choose the books they do. I'm currently teetering on the edge of another reading slump but I am going to push through because this is getting ridiculous. I do want to note that these are in no particular order. Coming up with ten things is hard enough, trying to prioritize them ain't gonna happen.

Top 5 Wednesday: Books You Thought You’d Hate, but Ended Up Loving!

I swear that the week after a vacation is the slowest dang thing that has ever existed. I need to start making sure that when I go on vacation it bleeds into two separate weeks so I can prolong the amount of time it takes me to have to complete a full week of work. This has been bruuuutal y'all. However, it's always nice to get back into a routine and I've been doing a bunch of reading so I'm not too upset about it. As I mentioned earlier this week I'm making a Thai Curry dish to pair with my Behind Her Eyes review which I'll be posting on Friday, so keep an eye out! For today, I wanted to participate in Top 5 Wednesday!

Top 5 Wednesday, like all the other memes I do is actually a Goodreads group rather than a blog! Different "top 5" topics are discussed every week and it's a super fun way to revisit and share books you've already read with readers. I definitely suggest checking out the group if you're into these kinds of posts! This week the topic is "books you thought you'd hate but ended up loving"! This one is actually pretty hard for me (but IDKKK I feel like I say that all the time) because I generally don't read books I think I'll hate. So I'm going for more of a "books I was less enthusiastic about reading but ended up loving" vibe.

Down The TBR Hole #3!

It's officially t-minus 3 days until I'm loaded up in the truck and on my way to ColoRADo to go skiing and celebrate my good friends dirty 30! I'm super amped and I'm working on picking some good reads for the car ride and some snow side reading. I thought today would be a great day to do another round of Down The TBR Hole and clean up my TBR pile because I'm constantly adding new things to it and not revisiting old reads. Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story and this is how it works:

- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.

- Order on ascending date added.

- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books

- Read the synopses of the books

- Decide: keep it or should it go?

Top 10 Tuesday: Stand Alone Books That Need a Sequel!

Happy not Monday, my dudes! I for one, am already ready for this week to be over. Both because I feel like garbage and also because I'm going to skiing next week for one of my best friends 30th birthdays! I may not be feeling too hot this week but that's never going to stop me from being freakin' AMPED to go skiing. I actually just finished Daisy Jones & The Six (TJR, you're a master) but I'm going to post that review tomorrow (I swear I'm not full of lies this time). I've got a few books from my library but they aren't really *speaking* to me so I may jump into a few old ARCs that I have instead.

Today I wanted to participate in my second round of Top 10 Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Artsy Reader and this weeks topic is stand alone books that need a sequel! I used to be super into series and had a hard time sinking my teeth into stand alones. Well, my how the tables have turned y'all because now I have a hard time getting into series and have been loving the stand alones!

Top 3 Thursday: Books That Taught Me Something New!

Hello! Welcome to another episode of "Christina is Full of Lies"!! In a surprise twist, it turns out our host Christina is actually, totally full of lies! The reading slump that has completely infected my life for all of February has been a real freakin' drag y'all. Honestly, I was kind of avoiding my blog and GR account because it was making me feel guilty. Been then I realized that was totally self-inflicted and if the worst part of my month was that I wasn't in the mood to read, well that aint so bad. ANYWHO, while I've been on a reading hiatus I've had some really great time to focus on myself, my self-care and preparing for the whirlwind that is going to be the next few months of my life. My husband has scheduled his PhD proposal for early April, his soon-to-be-boss is coming to Dallas next week and we're headed to Colorado for my friends 30th birthday the week after. Things are going to start moving very quickly for us and I've been spending too much time on Zillow and rapid fire adding things to my Amazon wish list and not enough time reading.

Today felt like a great day to get back on the blogging train also with another round of Top 3 Thursday! Top 3 Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by A Cosy Reader where different topics are explored each week. This week, it's books that taught you something new! As someone who is always trying to learn new things, view the world through new lenses and broaden my perspective I couldn't be more tickled with this topic.

Top 3 Thursday: Books I’m Afraid to Start!

Why hello there fellow readers, cooks and bloggers alike! How is your week going? Mine, is a raging dumpster fire. KIDDING! But also, a little bit not kidding. This week has, in fact been super stressful for me. However, that's not to say I've not been more stressed before and that I don't have a lot of positive things in my life *I don't like to complain ok!*. Anywho, as I mentioned on Tuesday, my reading slump has been killing me but I'm slowly but surely pulling myself out of that and I should have some new reviews and recipes for ya'll next week! However, I didn't want to post just one measly time this week so I wanted to take a few moments to participate in today's Top 3 Thursday!

Top 3 Thursday is a meme hosted by A Cosy Reader where different topics are explored week to week and you choose your "top 3" within those confines. It's a super fun way to revisit old books and to learn about new ones from fellow readers! If you haven't checked out this blog, I can't suggest it enough. Today's topic is "books I'm afraid to start" which I kind of feel like is every book for me because I'm always hunting for my next obsession!

Top 5 Tuesday: Books for Hufflepuffs!

Forgive me readers, for I have sinned. I've been in a major book slump and have been super slacking in February. I think I went so hard in January that I kind of fell off this month and have been feeling meh about everything I'm reading. It's gotten so bad that I've been going back and re-reading random parts of various books I've loved over the years because I just can't sink my teeth into anything these days. However, I've been slogging for a couple of weeks and it's high time I get back on the wagon and start reading some new books again!

However, today I wanted to participate in Top 5 Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Bionic Book Worm because today's topic is Top 5 books to give Hufflepuffs! As a loud and proud Hufflepuff myself, I couldn't resist the opportunity to participate in this weeks meme!
