Food Friday: Buffalo “Chicken” Salad!

As I mentioned earlier this week I want to integrate some more content into my blog. The main focus will remain reviewing books and pairing recipes mentioned in those books with my reviews. However (again) as I said, I have so many original recipes that I've wanted to share with y'all but they've not coincided with any of my books so they just sit in my recipe book, un-shared. Granted, even when I explore a new recipe or style of food for my blog I make it a few times, making changes that fit my households pallets and to give it a little *original* flare. However, that's not really the same as a recipe I've been making and working on for months or years. So here I am, with my first official Food Friday post! Today's recipes is one of my husbands all time favorites and was originally inspired during our time doing Whole30 back in January. However, it's seriously morphed since then and is not Whole30 any longer.

Recipe + Review: Behind Her Eyes + Braised Thai Curry Chicken Recipe!

Welcome back to the table readers and happy Friday! Today I'm bringing y'all a review for Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough along with a recipe for a braised chicken Thai curry. A few recipes ago I featured a lightened up Indian curry that we love in our house and this one is another family favorite! It makes great left overs and it's a super easy one-pan dish to whip up that takes little prep work and kind of just does it's own thing so it's perfect for a weeknight meal. This book was suggested to me by a friend of mine while we were discussing bat-shit crazy endings to books and she mentioned this one as being the cream of the crop for surprise twists so it took no time at all for me to hop on this gravy train and get my hands on a copy!

Every Heart a Doorway Review + Tortilla Soup Recipe!

What does that title say? Does it say RECIPE?! Yes, yes it does my friends - so without further ado, welcome back to the table! I'm getting back into the swing of things and I plan on bringing ya'll a lot more Recipe and a Read posts so buckle in folks - it's gonna be a good time! Today's review is for Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire! I'm pairing today's review with a recipe for my very own recipe for Tortilla Soup. This soup is super versatile, healthy, warm, comforting and super easy!

I honestly don't even know where to begin with this review because this book was both what I expected and nothing like I expected at the same time. Eleanor West's Home For Wayward Children, is exactly what the name describes and nothing like the name describes. This is a common theme throughout this book. Eleanor West takes in lost, disoriented, troubled children from their parents with a vow to rehabilitate them so they can become functioning members of society. What she doesn't tell the parents of these troubled children - is that the reason for their newfound affliction is not trauma in a traditional sense but that they've "tumbled" into and out of another world. Only to return to this one feeling helpless and like they've left the only real home they've ever known.
